  1. How do I get Internet on Phone?
    You require Internet on your phone to download and use applications. Please contact your phone service provider to activate Internet on your phone

  2. Once I have downloaded the application, how do I install it?
    The application starts installing automatically after download. You can start using the application by clicking the Icon of the application

  3. I get an error message “Unknown file format”?
    The application you have downloaded is not compatible with the Operating System on your phone

  4. How much does it cost me?
    The cost ranges from US $ 2.00 to US $ 9.99 for one time download. There is no monthly fee or subscription charge. For Internet connection charges and data charges please check with your phone service provider

  5. Can I use the applications outside my city/country?
    The TrafficEdge and ShopEdge will work on any phone with an Internet connection. You may use the application worldwide as long as you have an Internet Connection on your phone. EnglishEdge and MathEdge do not require Internet connectivity

  6. I get “Service is unavailable” error message
    Please check your Internet connectivity. Your Internet connection may be disrupted or the service may not be available in your area

    Some applications require HTML browsers installed on the phone. Please ensure your phone has an HTML browser installed.

  10. I am a T-Mobile subscriber and I am not able to use TrafficEdge
    TrafficEdge requires port 80 to access the camera database. T-Mobile recently started blocking port 80 on the Unlimited t-zones plan ($4.99) and the Unlimited t-zones Pro plan ($9.99). In order to use TrafficEdge via T-Mobile GPRS please upgrade to the Unlimited T-Mobile Internet ($19.99 - port 80 open)

  1. What is TrafficEdge?
    TrafficEdge displays traffic maps and cameras real-time. TrafficEdge uses a server driven Service Oriented Architecture that keeps maps updated so you will always have the latest traffic camera images. There is no monthly fee or subscription to use TrafficEdge

    • The cameras for my city are not listed?
      We are constantly adding new cities and traffic maps. Currently we only support Department of Transportation (DOT) cameras in the U.S. Please e-mail us if you know any cameras or traffic maps online that we have missed

    • The Registration Code provided to me by Handango does not work?
      Please contact support at support@maqsoftware.com for registration related problems

    • I installed TrafficEdge. The Internet connection works fine. Loading a traffic map is no problem. However, I do not get any traffic information. What am I doing wrong?
      Currently we offer traffic cameras and traffic maps only

      You need to subscribe to a city first. To subscribe to a city select Menu> Options> Choose Cities. Next, select city from Menu to view traffic cameras and maps

      A fully functional demo of TrafficEdge can be downloaded over the air to your device. Point your device to traffic.EdgeQ.com and download a 14-day trial

    • My trial has expired. I need to purchase the full version. What do I do?
      You need to purchase a Registration Code to activate TrafficEdge
      1. Select Buy Now from the Menu
      2. Select Purchase Now - Web
      3. You will be redirected to online purchase page
      4. Enter your credit card details
      5. The Registration key will be displayed once the purchase is complete. Please note down the registration key
      6. Select Options in the Main Menu
      7. Select Register Product
      8. Select Enter Registration Code and enter the Registration Code
      9. Select OK to activate TrafficEdge

      Following versions of TrafficEdge are available:

      TrafficEdge Corporate Edition (BES version)

      TrafficEdge Corporate Edition (BES Version) is for corporate users of BlackBerry that have BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) installed with Exchange, Notes or GroupWise. If your company provided you with the BlackBerry device, you probably need TrafficEdge BES version

      TrafficEdge Personal Edition (WAP version)

      TrafficEdge Personal Edition (WAP version) is for small business and individual users. If your company provided you with the BlackBerry device, you probably need TrafficEdge Corporate Edition (BES version)

      TrafficEdge Personal Edition (Verizon 7250)

      If you have a Verizon 7250 device with RIM O.S. 4.0 of BlackBerry, we offer TrafficEdge Personal Edition (Verizon 7250). TrafficEdge Personal Edition (Verizon 7250) is for small business and individual users. If you are a corporate user of BlackBerry (if your company provided you with the BlackBerry device and you have BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) installed), you probably need TrafficEdge Corporate Edition (BES version)

    2. What version of TrafficEdge will work on my BlackBerry?
      TrafficEdge works on most data service-enabled BES and WAP BlackBerry phones.
      Please download our trial version to verify that TrafficEdge functions as expected on your device and service provider.

    3. I downloaded the PC installer. How do I install TrafficEdge on my device?
      1. You need to unzip TrafficEdge file you downloaded from Handango.com in a folder on your PC hard drive
      2. Ensure that your BlackBerry is connected to the desktop PC via USB cable
      3. Start BlackBerry Desktop Manager application on your personal computer which will show you Application Loader
      4. Next, you need to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager Application Loader application to browse to the TrafficEdge unzipped files folder
      5. Select TrafficEdge.alx file
      6. All of the TrafficEdge components will be shown
      7. Install TrafficEdge application on your device
      8. Once installed, the application will start

    4. How do I change my WAP settings?
      1. Select Settings
      2. Select WAP Settings.
      3. Select your service provider. If your service provider is not listed, please select “Custom Settings” and enter the configuration.
      4. Click OK and retry downloading cities.

    5. I am using a BES version using BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange. I get “Operation could not be performed!”
      BlackBerry BES Server administrators can control the handheld and network resources that each custom application can access. Please contact your BlackBerry BES Server administrator to check if third party applications are blocked from accessing the Internet.

    6. I have a Nextel phone. Will TrafficEdge work on my Nextel Phone?
      Nextel users must install TrafficEdge Corporate Edition (BES version)
      Nextel users of TrafficEdge need to have version 4.0 of RIM OS. You can upgrade your BlackBerry device to version 4.0 of RIM OS which is available for free from Nextel website. Next download DOD Root Certificate from your service provider. Install DOD root certificate using BlackBerry application loader on your desktop

    1. How do I install TrafficEdge?
      • JVM Installation
        TrafficEdge requires installation of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) provided by IBM (IBM's WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment (WEME 5.7.1)) as a prerequisite.

        Check whether JVM is already installed on your device.
        To check if JVM is already installed:

        1. Tap on the menu on the home screen.
        2. Select ‘Info’ from the ‘App’ menu.
        3. Check if ‘IBM Java VM’ is present within the listed applications.

        If the JVM is installed, directly proceed to Application installation of TrafficEdge.
        If the JVM is not installed, it can be downloaded from here.
        The JVM is free for Treo 650 users.

        • Installation from Desktop
          1. Download TrafficEdge from here
          2. Unzip the file to a folder on your computer
          3. Launch the palmOneTM Quick Install on the Windows desktop
          4. Select your username from the list
          5. Click ‘Add’, and browse to the TrafficEdge.prc file in the unzipped folder on your computer
          6. Connect the Treo device to the computer via the cradle/cable
          7. Synchronize your phone with your computer (by pressing the HotSync button) to install the application

          Trial version of TrafficEdge can also be downloaded from Handango

    2. I have the JVM provided by Sun Microsystems already installed on my device. Will TrafficEdge work fine on it?
      TrafficEdge requires MIDP 2.0 profile. JVM provided by Sun Microsystems currently does not support MIDP 2.0. Hence, TrafficEdge will not work JVM provided by Sun Microsystems. TrafficEdge requires the JVM provided by IBM (IBM's WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment (WEME 5.7.1)) to be installed for successful working. WEME can be downloaded from here.

    3. Should I allow TrafficEdge to access the network?
      TrafficEdge requires network access. While running TrafficEdge, a dialog box will be popped asking whether to allow TrafficEdge access to the network. Click ‘Yes’ on the dialog box

    4. How do I stop my screen from flickering?
      To view TrafficEdge at its best, please ensure that the following device settings are configured after TrafficEdge is installed.
      Configure the following settings:
      • Memory
        1. Tap the selection box at the top of the home screen, and select ‘All’ from the list
        2. Select ‘Prefs’ on the home screen
        3. Select ‘IBM Java VM’ under ‘Other’ head
        4. Set Memory to at least 4 MB
        5. Set Java Thread Stack size to at least 8 KB

        1. Tap the selection box at the top of the home screen, and select ‘All’ from the list
        2. Select ‘Prefs’ on the home screen

    1. I get "The system cannot open the device or file specified!" error message
      It seems that some files are left behind by the previous version.
      Steps to install the new version of the TrafficEdge application:
      1. Please delete the folder, "\Storage\Program Files\TrafficEdge" from your mobile device, if the folder exists.
        Please refer to the figure given below:
      2. Reset the device.
      3. Run the MSI file to install TrafficEdge application.
      4. Please follow the instructions on the device screen to install the application.

      Alternate path to install the TrafficEdge application:
      If the above installation steps still causing problems, then you can install the TrafficEdge application Over the Air (OTA). To install the TrafficEdge application, please follow the steps given below:
      1. Open Internet Explorer on the device.
      2. Navigate to http://Traffic.Edgeq.com/. When asked to confirm to download the application, click "Yes". This will download the application files on to your mobile device.
      3. Please follow the instructions on the device screen to install the application.
